Reservation and Cancellation Policies

A Capitol Place Bed and Breakfast Apartment easily accommodates a single, a double, or a family of four. It can also accommodate two couples traveling together. Equipped with its own private phone line and wireless Internet, the apartment is well suited for touring guests as well as business guests.

Our rates, as of 1 January 2009 are $175.00 for a single occupancy, $200 for a double occupancy, $225.00 for a party of three, and $250.00 for a party of four. All our rates are subject to the applicable DC Hotel Sales Tax (currently 14.5%). There is a minimum stay requirement of three nights.

Our rates and our minimum stay requirements are subject to change during holidays and special events in Washington DC.

We do offer (when available) short and long term unhosted rental of the Bed and Breakfast apartment as well as the Main House. If interested, ask us about our long term policy, pricing and pictures.

A deposit of $100.00 by check or money order is required to secure a reservation, with the balance due upon arrival. The deposit is not refundable if the reservation is canceled, however it can be applied to a future reservation with us, if that reservation is made within 6 months of time of cancellation.
We do not accept credit cards.

Check in time is from 2:00 PM to 10:00 PM and check out time is no later than 11 AM. If necessary and with prior arrangements, alternate times can be accommodated.

Parking is available, free of charge. If interested, please inquire at time of reservation. However, our location in the center of Washington DC and our proximity to excellent metro transportation (Eastern Market metro stop) precludes the necessity of an automobile.

A Capitol Place is a non-smoking apartment and pets are not allowed.

Directions to A Capitol Place Bed and Breakfast

From the Northeast:
From Route 495 (Capitol Beltway) take the Baltimore Washington Parkway south and bear left at the Richmond VA Exit (do not take the right turn towards Washington DC at this exit). Continue towards Route 295 South, and turn right at the East Capitol Street Exit. Follow East Capitol Street about 1 mile, across the Anacostia River, RFK Stadium will be on your left, bear left and drive ¼ of the way around the stadium and turn right on East Capitol Street at the front of RFK Stadium. Follow East Capitol Street about 6 blocks as it approaches our neighborhood park, Lincoln Park. Go to the right, driving ¾ around the Park, then take a right on 12th Street SE. Our house is on the left side 11 row houses up the street. The number, 134, is on the transom window above the front door.

From the Northwest:
Follow 270 South to Route 495 West (Capitol Beltway) across the American Legion Bridge into Virginia. Take the George Washington Parkway south. Go across the Potomac River on the Theodore Roosevelt Bridge. This becomes Constitution Avenue. Stay on Constitution Avenue past the Smithsonian Museums. At 4th Street NW, Constitution Avenue jogs to left at a traffic light. Follow it up the hill until you pass the US Capitol on your right. Take a right on First Street NE and follow it two lights to East Capitol Street. Take a left on East Capitol Street and follow it until it approaches our neighborhood park, Lincoln Park. Go to the right, driving ¼ around the park, then take a right on 12th Street SE. Our house in on the left side 11 row houses up the street. From the South:
Follow Route 95 North as it turns into Route 395 North. Go across the Potomac River and follow the sign for Route 1 North, which is 14th Street. Continue to Independence Avenue (second traffic light) and turn right. Follow Independence Avenue about 1 mile up the hill past the US Capitol on your left. This intersection is First Street, SE, cross the First Street intersection, staying in the left lane, as immediately after the intersection, Independence Avenue jogs to the left. Follow Independence Avenue for 11 more blocks until you come to 12th Street SE. Take a left on 12th Street SE. Our house is on the right side 14 houses down the street. The number, 134, is on the transom window above the front door.

From the West:
Follow Route 66 east across the Potomac River on the Roosevelt Bridge. This becomes Constitution Avenue. Stay on Constitution Avenue past the Smithsonian Museums.
